	Welcome to Pawsitive Outreach! Pawsitive Outreach’s mission is to reach out to our community through animal-assisted activities and therapies, promoting the human-animal bond for healing, comfort, companionship and improvement to the client’s overall well-being. Pawsitive Outreach is an affiliate group of the Delta Society, an international non-profit service organization whose licensed instructors train volunteers and their pets to become Pet Partners. The Delta Society provides liability insurance for the Pet Partner Teams who volunteer their time. Pawsitive Outreach Teams visit hospital, nursing homes, rehabilitation center, schools, and other facilities to promote human health and well being through interactions with companion animals and their owners. Pet Partners want to share their companionship and love. Studies continue to show that the human-animal bond helps people to maintain good health, grow and develop in positive ways, cope with life’s day-to-day challenges such as loss, stress, loneliness and illness. The touch, stroke, and cuddles that animals provide can help decrease aches, pains, depression, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and lighten the spirit. Pawsitive Outreach evaluates and educates facilities who are wanting teams to begin visiting their residents. We provide new team handlers the opportunity to mentor with experienced teams to provide them a good understanding of what to expect when they begin with their pet partner. The Reading Rovers Program By Linda Irish, Reading Rovers The Reading Rovers program provides a more relaxed and enjoyable reading environment for children through the presence of dogs. Reading Rover Pet Partner teams visit both elementary schools and public libraries. The school program targets at-risk struggling readers to build their reading confidence and skills. Reading Rover teams must be Delta-certified and handlers must pass a written exam.
